Applying for funding for a Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Course

With the key goal of fostering training and mobility of young scientists within Europe, the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Courses Committee invites individuals or groups with a proven scientific track record on the event topic to apply for funds to organize lecture courses, workshops, practical courses with strong hands-on elements, or larger Special Meetings, as part of the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Courses programme.

Important points for prospective organizers are summarized below but for full details please refer to the latest Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Courses Guidelines and application foms (currently Round 2 of the 2027 call).

Deadlines for applications

There are two rounds of applications each year, both for courses delivered the year after. Round 1 of the 2027 call has a 1 March 2026 deadline. Round 2 of the 2027 call has a 1 September 2026 deadline. Please note however that applications for Joint Ä¢¹½´«Ã½/EMBO Lecture Courses can only be submitted at the 1 March deadline each year.

Important update: the timeline of the new Joint Ä¢¹½´«Ã½/IUBMB Advanced Courses has been extended to Round 2 (i.e., organizers can still send applications to this new course type by 1 September 2026).

Course timing

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Courses should normally not be scheduled to take place around the annual Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Congress, as specified in the guidelines for each type of course. In 2027, the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Congress will take place 3–7 July 2027 (Riga, Latvia).

Reporting ON A Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ ADVANCED COurse

Three months after the course, scientific, financial, and participant reports need to be uploaded to the (or emailed to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ if there are queries), for monitoring of effective and proper use of Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ funds and to help with continual improvements of  the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Advanced Courses Programme. Further details on reporting are given in the guidelines. The report templates are available from the ‘Downloads for Course Organizers’ list below but please note the survey and the Participation Statistics and Evaluation Summary reports can be automatically generated from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ course websites.
