As part of its societal remit, the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Science and Society Committee runs a science and society session at the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Congress, which in 2021 explored the topic of ‘Plastics: revolution, pollution and substitution’; see the  to the session on the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Network for more details. The committee would like to build on this and reach a wider audience and to this end here announces a call for proposals from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Constituent Societies to run a ‘science and society’ event or activity in 2022 under the same theme.

The exact format of the event/activity is up to the organizing Society and the committee would like to support a range of activities from speaker events to educational activities, including for public engagement on this issue. Up to €1500 is available from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ to support this event/activity. Events or activities which involve more than one Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Constituent Society or which enable the sharing of an activity across Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Constituent Societies are encouraged.

Societies who wish to apply should check further details here and submit a 1-page (A4) outline of their event/activity along with the proposed budget by 15th January 2022 (extended deadline) to Prof. Raffaele Porta of the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Science and Society Committee at [email protected]

NB: Support material for the topic of plastics can be found on the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Network among ‘‘ posts, and some examples of public engagement activities on various topics from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Constituent Societies and others are available in the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Network’s Ìý°ù´Ç´Ç³¾.
